06 February 2010 - Tebrau City, JB, Malaysia

This trip was planned more than a month ago. We were glad to have Botak family to join us. Without them, we'll miss all these good food.

Woke up at 9am, move off at 10am for Botak family and off to Woodlands Checkpoint at 1045am.
Jam at the Singapore & Malaysia customs as we expected, but luckily the jam took us at most 1hour which is mild considering CNY period where many Singaporeans will flock to JB to stock up on their necessities. (Including us?!) :P

Having skipped breakfast, all of us were starving when we reach our lunch destination which Angela highly recommend. 台湾小吃 (Taiwan snacks), something that I truly miss after I came back from Taiwan in August 2008.

Seafood Stew

Oyster Mee Sua

三杯鸡 (Chicken stewed in 3 types of sauce)

Ice-cream Shaved Ice

The first 3 dishes comes with rice, dessert and appetizer. I was so looking forward to the oyster mee sua but sadly it is not as authentic as the ones I tasted in Taiwan (maybe my expectations were too high?)
The ice-cream was sweeeet! Look at him! He simply cant resist ice-cream.

He learnt a trick about posing, tilt your head down and your face will look slimmer.

This is Jovan aka Ah Ta. He's such a sweetie, though at times he can really whine. But you'll forget about all his little naughty behaviour when he smile at you, showing his tiny bunny front tooth.
I miss him already.....

After lunch, we headed to Jusco, Tebrau City to get all the necessities and it cost us a whopping RM350! Imagine how much will it cost us if we were to get them locally?

Gave ourselves 2 hours (per couple/family) for some free & easy shopping before dinner time and were introduced to this restuarant/coffee shop : Wen Qiang Kway Teow Soup (Kway Chap).

''Kway Chap'' Feast

Nicely presented Kway teow soup

Braised Small Intestines

Braised Duck

Braised Chicken Feet

I must say this is by far the most delicious kway chap that I've eaten so far. None in Singapore can be compared to this. At least to me I feel this way.
But the journey to this coffee shop is kind of dangerous with the sudden split lanes, narrow roads and ongoing construction.

Since we are in JB, another food that we miss is the well known Ramli Burger! So we decided to bring back some burger for supper during our mahjong session afterwards.

Enjoying his BBQ chicken stick. But it is too fatty and oily for my liking. What makes it worst is, I ate BBQ Fat and not chicken meat!

(see, the difference when you tilt your head down and when you're not)

Preparing our Ramli Burger

Even though I ate it when its already cold, I must say the taste of this burger (taste like heaven!) is miles away from the one I ate at R&R Northsouth Highway (NSH).

Definitely a foodfull trip for the both of us. Enjoyed the company of Botak Family. We should do this say once in 2 months or something?!

Off Topic: "Delicious" Weekend

Simply just cant resist myself from ''broadcasting'' the food I've eaten last weekend.

Prepared by him: Prawn Bee Hoon Soup (Saturday's lunch)

He woke up at 6am to do some marketing at Pek Kio Market. I am supposed to tag along but was still stuck in my dreams :P

Though its his first time, but everything went well (Im not sure about the process though). Of course it cant be compared to those prawn mee sold in hawker centres, still it taste fabulicious!

Prepared by me: "Fu Chok" (Sunday's dessert)

My first try on this dessert. To my surprise, it did not turn out as disastrous as I thought. It was an easy process too, just combine all the ingredients in slow cooker and......... TA DA! There it is...... (of course there is some preparation before that).

Looking forward to all the home cooked meals and the joy from its process.

A Great Beginning for Year 2010 : 09 - 10 January 2010 - Bintan, Indonesia

A birthday getaway arranged for him. His first time to Bintan, multiple times for myself.

We were greeted by the beautiful morning sunrise at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal before our 55 minutes ride to Bintan.

A quick registration at the BRF counter for our ferry flash card and headed to breakfast at the Killiney Kopitiam located inside the terminal.
Breakfast was nothing fantastic, just something to fill our stomach before all the fun begin.

About an hour later......................

We arrived at Bintan Lagoon Resort with a warm welcome from local dancers.

I am so prepared to leave my baggage and head to the beach for some sun before checking in. To my surprise, we were able to check in before their stated time (local time 3pm). My guess is that the room (deluxe garden room) that we booked were not taken up the previous night.

King size bed, queen size day bed, bath tub, private patio.
This is definitely worth the money I've paid for.

Unfortunately, we didnt have enough time to relax at the patio as we were both dead tired after all the activities in the day.

A day at the beach, makes me smile.
(bright sunny day of course!)

After all the neccessary applications needed (sun-tanning oil, sunblock on face.....) we lay on our sunbed for some sun but after only 10 minutes, I eagerly wanted some contact with the waves.

Pulling him with me, he didnt have a choice. :P
With no regrets, he enjoyed himself with the waves, this is the first time I've seen him playing and laughing like a 7 year old.

A pose after 2+ hours of waves and body boarding...
Smiling even though my arms and legs are feeling wobbly.

Headed to the pool for a short dip and back to the pool for a quick bite. Our only meal from breakfast lasted us for hours, all the fun drowned the feel of hunger.

A short nap and some discussion later....

We decided on BBQ for our dinner. Located in front of the beach, we had to walk pass a dark and ''creepy'' walkway before we get to the restuarant.

Order a main course and get a buffet of soups, salads, bread, desserts and so on...

This main course I ordered was disappointing though, the steak was too tough for my liking.

One thing for sure we enjoyed was the ice cream!
Look at how much he enjoyed the ice cream after eating 2 big BOWLS..... not scoop, but BOWLS!

A sense of satisfaction?

Cant get away from my weekly football regime, I had to search for a place that is showing MY football team > Arsenal vs Everton (Home or Away? I cant remember).
Forcing him to watch it with me (yes, again.), we proceeded to the lobby lounge for some action. At half time, both of us agreed to continue the match in the room as the lounge was getting too noisy for our comfort.

No disappointment from them.

Time to sleep............... with a smile on my face.

8 hours later.......

Not wasting any time, we went back to the pool for some sun after our buffet breakfast while waiting for our bus transfer to ferry terminal at 2pm.

Photos taken while waiting for bus.

He: Liverpool fan
Me: Arsenal fan

How can we get along? Hmmm.....

One wrong move that we made was to leave the resort at 2pm and having to wait 3 more hours before our scheduled departure time.
Fortunately, for a mere $10, we were able to reschedule departure time to an earlier time slot and not wasting time at a terminal with basically nothing to entertain us.

I hope you had a great trip, I did definitely.
